Project #2 Energy Drink Advertisement

Project Brief

Description: Children’s drink advertisement, 14in x17in

Sender: Busy Bee Energy Drink

Create an advertisement for a child’s energy drink. The drink is made of sweet fruit flavors and honey. It is a similar style to the energy drink adults buy and the idea is to allow the child to copy their parents. Incorporate in the design bees, the idea of energy in contrast to low energy, and the drink itself.

The Audience is the young and busy Mother and/or Father and their child (age 3-6). The advertisement should be bold, colorful, bright, and fun as to appeal to the children’s interests and also include the idea of health, vitamins, naturalness, and happiness to appeal to the Mother and/or Father.

The purpose is the allow the children to be just like their parents and for the parents, especially busy parents, to be able to give their children vitamins and a energy boost to keep up with their busy schedules.

Specifications/Design Concept: Bright, simple forms, gender-neutral color scheme, minimalist and yet busy design to draw eye around. Bee theme and evokes energy.

What is Illustration?

The message of this illustration is saying that there is an event titled “Animation Migration” and it is featuring a popular illustrator, a famous jazz artist, and a well-known scientist. The context of this illustration was a poster used for promoting a three-minute animation video. The sender / commissioner of this illustrated message was the Wellcome Trust and the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. This illustration is intended to intrigue a few different audiences. Those interested in artists and illustrators would perhaps recognize the name of Lesley Barnes, some people may be jazz music fans or regular attendees of the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and would notice Kit Downes, and some may even be interested in those well known in the science community and be drawn in by Adam Rutherfords participation. Its purpose is to let the viewer know of the project and for people to gain interest in learning more about “Animation Migration”, and the three collaborators. The communication objective would be to strike curiosity in the audience by using very little information and yet stating its main contributors and bold title along side a bright illustration. The artist is Lesley Barnes; she lives in the United Kingdom and does mostly freelance work. Paint and paper cutting were used to create the image, as well as digital video animation for the video it is promoting. I chose this illustration because I enjoy its simplicity and its sleek, bright, geometric shapes. I like how my eye is drawn to its lines and can easily flow through the design while obtaining information. I also think that deer are a very lovely animal.
